Pause for Prayer

Alleluia! Christ is risen! Sunday, April 9 was a day of joy and celebration for Christians. It followed a week of remembering difficult events: a final meal, falling asleep while waiting at the garden, denial, and death on the cross. If our emotions rode a rollercoaster, imagine what it was like for Jesus and His followers. Add to that the atmosphere of uncertainty that must have surrounded them. We enter Lent and Holy Week already knowing the wonder and relief of Easter. Oh, Alleluia!

God, we rejoice as we remember Christ’s birth. But Easter! Easter is the gift for which we are most grateful. Your Son died for our sins, but His resurrection means we need not spend our lives without Him. Christ is risen! He is our Savior! Thank you for this greatest of all Your blessings. Amen.
