Pause for Prayer

Will there ever be a time, dear God, when we won’t feel a desperate need to pray for peace? Why, we cry, must some people in power decide they want what others have and send their people to take it? There is death and destruction on all sides. God, we pray for people who go to sleep without knowing if they will wake up in the morning. We pray for people who are no longer safe when at work, when out shopping for food, or even in their own homes. We pray for soldiers, aggressors and defenders, and for their families. We pray for the children who are losing their childhood. Their lives are in a constant state of fear. God, we give this all up to You. We, who live in relative peace and safety, are grateful and thank You. Hear our prayer. Amen.
