Westminster’s Work in the Community

Hearts and Hands Knitting Group

Our Hearts and Hands Group was formed in 2007 and has been busy at work knitting items for as many people as they can.  The Hearts and Hands group knits layettes for newborns and moms-in-need, lap blankets for nursing home residents, hats, gloves, and mittens for the homeless.  The knitters range in ages from 8 to 80. The group meets every Tuesday, 7:00 p.m.

All Knitters Welcome! Beginners, too!

Food of Faith

Westminster partners with local churches to serve hot meals to the homeless and needy families in the Bay County Area on Thursday evenings at 5:00 p.m.  From July - December, Westminster hosts these dinners in the Fellowship Hall.  Messiah Lutheran hosts the dinners in their hall from January - June.

All are welcomed for a meal or to pitch in as a volunteer.

Food Pantry

Westminster has a location for the Emergency Food Network of Bay County to have a Food Pantry.  Everyday families in need come to us and need food for their family.  We provide non-perishable foods to those who are in need.  Our congregation has many fund drives and partners with the Boy Scouts of America to keep our pantry full of food.  Donations and Requests can be made during Office Hours.

Good Samaritan Rescue Mission

"Expressing God's love by reaching out to the hurting and homeless of the Bay area by providing shelter and care, by developing a community of support, and by proclaiming the Gospel of Christ."

The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, with a donation of $35,000 to help open the new men's wing at our local homeless shelter.  Our generous congregation was actively involved in helping to build the wing.  The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission helps families with a warm bed and a hot meal.  For more information please see their website:  www.gsrmbaycity.org
